It offers opportunities for collaborative and independent learning set within familiar and unfamiliar contexts. It also seeks to illustrate and emphasise situations where the principles of physics are used and applied, thus promoting the candidates\u2019 awareness that physics involves interaction between theory and practice. The course allows candidates an opportunity to engage in some independent research. Candidates are encouraged to make critical and evaluative comments, and to accept that physics is a developing subject. The study of Advanced Higher Physics should also foster an interest in current developments in, and applications of, physics.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Four mandatory units of study :<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Rotational motion and Astrophysics<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Quanta and Waves<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Electromagnetism<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Units, prefixes and uncertainties.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Assessment:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Throughout Advanced Higher Science Courses, pupils are assessed throughout the year in the form of unit assessments, practical assessments and homework tasks. All sciences engage pupils through both theory and practical work.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>An extended project on a related area of the discrete science must be undertaken at Advanced Higher.
