
French: Higher
Recommended Entry Requirements:
- N5 French/Spanish A/B/C*
(National 5 C* – Entry will be subject to consideration of personal circumstances, including a view of faculty staff, alternative progression routes and the individual’s learner journey)
Course Content:
- The Higher course covers four skills – Reading, Listening, Talking and Writing and four contexts:
- Society
- Education
- Employability
- Culture.
Over the year pupils will study a variety of topics from these contexts, as well as studying how the language works (grammar). In particular, the Course aims to enable learners to develop the ability to:
- read, listen, talk and write in a modern language
- understand and use a modern language
- develop the language skills of translation
- apply knowledge and understanding of a modern language
Learners will learn using a variety of methods: Online games & activities,magazine articles, YouTube videos, films, role plays and conversations.
Assessment:
- Higher French is assessed via a combination of an internal talking assessment and an externally assessed exam and writing assignment.
