They also provide enrichment opportunities for learners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learning Journey Cycle 3 2023\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><b>Literacy\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In Daily 5 this cycle we are focusing on building independence and applying the skills we have worked on in Talk 4 Writing. All children are now working on a reading book with each child receiving 1 book per week to read at home with an adult. We are still working through Jolly Grammar 1 and 2 for Primary 2&#8217;s and 3&#8217;s and working on embedding sound knowledge in P1 with a range of sentence work and dictation.<\/p>\n<p>In Talk 4 Writing this term we are working on letter writing. We started our term writing letters to the Crayons from The Day the Crayons Quit!. We will also be working on personal writing along side this.<\/p>\n<p><b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">How you can help:\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Continue to read daily if possible with your child. Also if possible encourage your child to read new words they see in their every day life, this could be street signs, recipes\u00a0or even subtitles.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><b>Numeracy and Maths\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This cycle we are working on Fractions and Place value. We have been looking at halves and quarters of shapes and quantities. P2 are now moving on to Place Value and discussing the value of each digit within a number. We are also looking at the importance of digit order and what this means. P1 are working on\u00a0 number bonds and teen numbers. We are also developing our subitizing with dot patterns.<\/p>\n<p><b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">How you can help:<\/span><\/i><\/b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Work with your P1 to discuss numbers which come before, between and after a range of numbers. P2\/3 discuss numbers and their digit values, for example: 356 has 3 hundreds, 5 tens and 6 ones.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><b>Topic<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Our topic this cycle is Amazing Me! We will be focusing on the human body and all of the amazing things it can do. We will also be looking at our own personalities and what makes us amazing. We will also be looking at what our body needs to be healthy and to function at its best.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>How you can help:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><em>When you are cooking at home discuss what ingredients are in your meal and think about if you can create a meal together.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><b>Physical Education\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This term for PE we are working on Athletics skills, we have been building our throwing, catching, kicking, throwing and running skills so far.
