{"id":14,"date":"2020-05-21T13:48:44","date_gmt":"2020-05-21T13:48:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/an\/anguseducationalpsychology\/?page_id=14"},"modified":"2026-01-07T15:44:51","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T15:44:51","slug":"dyslexia-procedures","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/an\/anguseducationalpsychology\/dyslexia-procedures\/","title":{"rendered":"Dyslexia Procedures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The updated version of <a href=\"https:\/\/glowscotland.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/s\/EPSPracticeTeam\/IQC2q6-R074UTJrP_W8paqVNAW1l_dsieGPo8GzjCzSuyoQ?e=scmqU7\">Angus Council&#8217;s Dyslexia and Inclusive Practice Procedures <\/a>was released in November 2025.<\/p>\n<p>This revision includes the updated Scottish working definition of dyslexia, and places an emphasis on the following:-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creating inclusive teaching approaches and learning environments for all learners;<\/li>\n<li>Considering whether learners have had access to appropriate learning opportunities before identifying dyslexia;<\/li>\n<li>Encouraging contextual assessment that highlights strengths as well as areas of need;<\/li>\n<li>Consulting with parents\/carers and learners throughout the process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Helpful resources<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is a factsheet in relation to supporting learners with dyslexia <a href=\"https:\/\/glowscotland.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/s\/EPSPracticeTeam\/EdxUNlwtEDZGrKxwWfZEYogBFud5YAIpOjqrzEltKZdWrA?e=csr2Cn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> and a leaflet for parents and carers <a href=\"https:\/\/glowscotland.sharepoint.com\/:u:\/s\/EPSPracticeTeam\/IQBqrOaZwq_aT5JG302zti8rAXSPBikef_AgvnexbIOB2q8?e=JlPcz5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/addressingdyslexia.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Addressing Dyslexia Toolkit<\/a> is a free resource which provides information for teachers, schools and local authorities on inclusive practice, literacy difficulties and dyslexia<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-176 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/an\/public\/anguseducationalpsychology\/uploads\/sites\/2385\/2020\/10\/06101617\/dyslexia.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"185\" height=\"163\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.callscotland.org.uk\/information\/dyslexia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CALL Scotland<\/a> website has a section about dyslexia.\u00a0 CALL (Communication, Access, Literacy and Learning) Scotland help children and young people to overcome disability and barriers to learning created by their environment.\u00a0 The dyslexia section has a lot of information about how to assess difficulties and use technology to improve access to literacy.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dyslexiascotland.org.uk\/our-leaflets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dyslexia Scotland<\/a> website has a range of resources for children, parents and teachers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The updated version of Angus Council&#8217;s Dyslexia and Inclusive Practice Procedures was released in November 2025.
