Thursday 1 June, Glasgow<\/em><\/h2>\n

Food, including food poverty and food security, is a major social issue.\u00a0Join us at this one day conference to discuss the role of food in our society,\u00a0and its links with wellbeing, learning and attainment within the context of GIRFEC.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One year on from our 2016 conference focusing on food policy, delegates can expect to hear updates on food laws and\u00a0policy initiatives, and find\u00a0out about creative approaches, up-to-date research and current projects aimed at tackling food insecurity and improving the nutrition and wellbeing of children and young people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Conference topics include:
\n<\/strong>–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The link between food and attainment in children
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Recipe for Success? An update on policy
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tackling food poverty through a multi-agency approach
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The role of food in promoting social inclusion, social interaction and positive behaviours
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Establishing healthy attitudes to food from an early age
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Adopting a child rights approach to food.<\/p>\n

Keynote speaker:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Professor Greta Defeyter<\/span><\/a>, Director of Healthy Living at the University of Northumbria, speaking about the evidence behind \u2018holiday hunger\u2019 and \u2018holiday loss of learning\u2019, and successful intervention to tackle these phenomena.<\/span><\/p>\n
