To continue the legacy of the Angus Book Award, some of\u00a0Carnoustie High School’s\u00a0S3\u00a0Art & Design pupils created alternative book covers from a previous year’s shortlist.<\/p>\n

The chosen year was\u00a02000. The pupils were given a synopsis of the books (and were actively encouraged to read them)! They also looked at the original jacket design and any subsequent editions. The pupils were very enthusiastic about their task and their efforts were very impressive. \"CHS<\/a>All the artwork was put on display outside the library (as pictured).<\/p>\n

The School Librarian sent each author an alternative cover.<\/p>\n

Bernard Ashley whose book “Tiger without teeth” was shortlisted, replied as follows.<\/p>\n

” Very many thanks for sending me my new cover for Tiger Without Teeth if ever it should reprint. It\u2019s very good, with force and feel and originality. I send my congratulations to the artists.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

For me it was a very good idea that you did this as a project. It shows that the life of a book can go on beyond the first year or two of publication, and can still have some sort of resonance<\/strong><\/em>.”<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
