We have been researching our own personal projects over the last few weeks. Everybody had a different person or boat from history to find out about. We put the information that we found out on our own Glow Page. We added web-parts like text editor, xml editor, picture library, discussion, survey. Some people even added a voki or a video.
We learned how to measure angles with protractor. we also named different angles. An acute angle is less than 90 degrees, an obtuse angle is more than 90 degrees. A right angle is 90 degrees exactly. We had to walk round the school and find different angles. We learned the right point to put a protractor to measure the angle.
The Art teacher was working with us on Friday and showed us some nice techniques for watercolour. We had to remember background, middleground and foreground. The background was lighter colours, using a colour wash. The foreground is supposed to be stronger colour – we did this later with paint when the background was dry. We are hoping to use these techniques to do some art work in the style of Shaun Tan. We will post some pictures up soon of these!
Sorry for the late posting – the technology has been getting the better of me! The class have produced some brilliant photostories last term to show all of their learning about the beach. I wanted to up-load one to teacherstube and then embed it into the blog. It took ages to up-load and then I found out it couldn’t embed into the Glow Blog anyway!

Primary 7 went to the DCA on Tuesday to see five short films they were called ‘The Lost Thing’, ‘I Am Round’, ‘The Little Boy And The Beast’,’Sleeping beauty’ and ‘Wee Wise Words’. Each one lasted 4-16 minutes.Each one had their own meaning. Back in class we discussed the meaning behind the film. Everyone shared what they thought.

This is Ryan doing a hand stand In P.E we were mainly learning about doing a hand stand and we are learning about Gymnastics this term. we were all trying to do a hand stand in P.E.
Primary 7 enjoyed a judo taster session on Monday instead of their normal gym time. Pupils learned about different holds and throws and even had a chance to have a tussle with the expert trainers. It certainly enthused a number of the pupils to think about taking up Judo as a sport.

We were outside in the school garden today to see how many colours we could find. Then we took bits of the colour and put them on our sticky tape to remind us of all the colours in the school grounds. Then we did six sketches of what we saw, we had to make the pictures either close up or far away. We are going to use all this information to make watercolour pictures in our classroom. 😀
We went to the Carnoustie beach because we have been learning about the rocky shore in class. The first thing that we did was we looked in the rock pools to see what animals we could find. We found starfish, crabs, one fish (a blenny) and more like perriwinkles, barnacles, limpets and even hermit crabs! It was fun to go onto the beach and find lots of different animals that we had been learning about in class.
We also walked up the strandline to see what we could find under the seaweed. Andrew F found some Whelk egg cases and Rhianne found a bird chest bone. (Andrew S found a bag handle!?!). We also did a scavenger hunt, some environmental art (like Andy Goldsworthy) and in the afternoon we did a house competition, where we had to make sand sculptures.
Each week we are making up mindmaps to show our learning for the week. We have been trying to make mindmaps up like Tony Buzan, who is a bit of an expert. You can find out more about him at www.thinkbuzan.com! This is an example of a mindmap.
