Our Parents came for our book ceremony
Our teachers arranged a book award ceremony were we each got our signed copy of What the Ladybird Heard to share with our parents.
We made special invitations to our afternoon were the Ladybird wings moved apart so you could read our invitation instructions. We worked with our parents on work and tasks related to Julia Donaldson and had loads of time to read lots of the author’s stories with our parents.Take a look at some of our photos and please leave a comment.
What the Ladybird Heard
We were all gifted the JuliaDonaldson book-What the Ladybird Heard. Every one of our books was signed by the author. We read all about the Ladybird and how she met all the animals. We were also able to find the ladybird on every new part of the story even though she was very tiny. We made ladybirds and read the story over and over.
Julia Donaldson’s books and characters
Primary 1-Julia Donaldson Blog
We are Primary 1 Pupils of Hayshead Primary. We were lucky enough to see the Children’s Laureate Julia Donaldson when she visited Angus to celebrate the gifting of her award-winning book, What the Ladybird Heard, to every P1 child in Scotland.
The event on Tuesday 22 November, at The Webster Memorial Theatre, Arbroath, was attended by ourselves and 450 Angus children and was organised by Bookbug, Scottish Book Trust’s Early Year’s Programme, in partnership with Angus Council’s Neighbourhood Services and Education departments.
The multi-award-winning author, who was born in London but now lives in Glasgow, is most famous for her best-selling picture book, The Gruffalo, which we also looked at during our week long event dedicated to all of Julia Donaldson’s books and characters.
