Keren receives her quaich - a gift from Brechin HighShortlisted author, Keren David, visited Brechin High School on Tuesday 17th May, for the culmination of the 2011 Angus Book Award.

Pupils assembled in the library to welcome Keren who discussed her book, her influences and motivations, and took questions on her writing craft and key themes such as knife crime, justice and identity. It was wonderful having Keren and she appeared delighted with her gift from BHS – an inscribed quaich!

For the past several months pupils had been reading the four shortlisted titles, reviewing and comparing them with a view to deciding the all important vote for their favourite author. Completely pupil-led, the winner of the secret ballot was announced at the Award Ceremony held at Arbroath Academy.

Each book and every author was amazing but we’re so chuffed that Keren scooped first prize – Congratulations!
