Donation from Angus College students

Last week pupils from Miss Warden’s Prince’s Trust Class were presented with a donation of over £300 from students of Angus College.  The students are part of an Introduction to Uniform Services course, and had completed a sponsored run across the Tay Bridge (dressed as bananas and monkeys!) in order to raise the money, led by Lecturer Steve Oakley.  The Prince’s Trust pupils were very grateful to receive the money, and will use it to fund a residential trip in the near future.

Scottish Cups Update

Congratulations to our Netball teams (from S1 to S6) all of whom have qualified for the second round of the Scottish Cup, and all of whom finished top of their respective groups with 100% records. In addition our S2 girls’ team were winners of the recent Angus Festival event.

AHS has also completed a clean sweep of success in Basketball with every team entered by the school making it through to the second round of their respective draws in the Scottish Cup.

Good luck to all our teams as they play their next matches in the New Year. The school’s extra-curricular programmes will start up again on Monday 9th January – and pupils should note that new members are always welcome!

Giant Heptathlon

A very big well done to both the S1 and S2 Giant heptathlon teams. Both competed in the Angus regional round of this national event, and both won!

The S1 team consisted of: Ellie Callon, Cailin Smith, Kally Smith, Niamh Feighan, Nicola Fairlie, Kirsten Gauld, Sophie Buick, Blair Geddes, Evan Fairweather, Ryan Fairweather, Bradley Vickers, Keiran Henderson, Louie Bolton & Ben Kelbie

The S2 team were: Hannah Robb, Anna Robertson, Leah Bow, Kate Fraser, Emma Hunter, Stacey Thomson, Georgia Ferrie, Lewis Robertson, Alec Lo, Finn Sutherland, Kailin Brannigan, Rory Willox, Shaun Wilson and Jacob Proctor.

Curling

Congratulations to our Curling Team, who took part in the Hay Competition – at Dewar’s Ice Rink in Perth – for the first time. Twenty teams entered the event and the team from AHS won their way through to the final beating teams from Mary Erskine’s School, Beath HS and Lockerbie HS on the way. The team then produced one last excellent performance to defeat local favourites Perth HS by a score of 6-3 to win the competition.

The team of Robert Fawns (Skip), Thomas Halder (3rd), Craig Cameron (2nd) and Ben Bremner (Lead) will now move forward to defend their crown as Scottish Schools Champions, having already won their opening two matches in the competition.
