Glamis Primary School

At Glamis Primary School they have had a separate Parent Council and PTA however it looks like they are going to amalgamate.  They would be interested to hear from other parents as to how they incorporate fundraising in their parent council.  Do they have a separate fundraising group?  What members does that group consist of?  How much time is allocated to fundraising at PC meetings.

Please feel free to add comments to this page or contact myself and I shall pass comments on to Glamis Primary Parent Council.

Any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me on dunlopam@angus.gov.uk or telephone on 01307 476341.

  1. We have merged not only parent council fundraising and pc business, but also the minibus fundraising. We just have a section in the agenda. If anything specific is coming up, we have subcommittees which meet outside the main meeting. This works well for us as sadly, its the same parents who do all three things so its more convenient to cover everything in one evening. Hope that helps. Wendy, feel free to call me if you want.

  2. Hi I am on the Parent Council at Northmuir P.S we have a separate fundraising group which is not part of the parent council. Our parent council has no part in any fundraising. The fundraising group meets at different times, not as often, and has less members, However 2 of these members are on the council also, but I am sure it is often the same parents who offer help in any way. This way of working suits our school and leaves parent council meetings free to discuss other issues.

  3. Hi

At Southmuir we have a joint committee. In my time as a parent council member this has always been the case. As has already been stated in previous responses it is always the same faces who come along to things. This is also the case for other committees I am involved with.

Having the two forums piggy backed works well for as as some school issues require funding or fundraising to be carried out so things are dealt with as they arise without having to call additional meetings.

  4. Thank you for your comments. We have set up a fund raising group as a sub committee. It is intended that Fund Raising will be an item on the agenda at our monthly PC meetings at which the fund raising convener will report back to the parent council. We got a lot of guidance from the SPTC information evening in relation to constitutions, handling of money and sub committees . It is worthwhile attending one of these information events as it keeps you up to date with what is happening and you can feed this back to your PC .
    Thanks again
