P.E.

Primary 7A have been learning about various movements within gymnastics. They have developed different rolls, jumps and balances. To challenge the pupils there were asked to complete a course to combine all the skills which they have learning over the past few weeks.

Pulley’s

Primary 7A were asked to solve this problem from their novel ‘The Garbage King’;
Dani and Mamo are desperate for clean water. They have found a well however it is too deep for them to access the water. Can you create a pulley system to help Mamo and Dani?
The pupils found out that the more pulleys that were added the less effort would be required to move the load (the water). When a single pulley was added to move 600ml, 600g of effort was required. When a double pulley was added to move 600ml, 300g of effort was required. When a triple was added to move 600ml, 200g of effort was required to move the load.

Talking and Listening

P7A were creating higher order thinking questions based on Blooms Taxonomy to challenge their own and others thinking. They created questions based on; remembering, understanding and analysing. All the pupils demonstrated a deeper understanding of the text and were able to justify their own ideas and build onto others.

Author visit- Lari Don

Primary 5-7 pupils enjoyed a visit from Lari Don today. Lari read a section of one of her books from the Spellchaser trilogy. Together the pupils and Lari created a story involving a trap and an escape. The pupils had amazing ideas.
