Primary 4 Viking Assembly

All the children did such a good job learning all of their words and actions for our assembly.  We showed and told the school and our other visitors what we have learned about Vikings so far.  We rehearsed all week and learned a new song as well.  Well done Primary 4!

Making Viking Shields!

The children did an amazing job creating their very own Viking Shields to use in our assembly.  After choosing 2 main colours, we painted it and to create a 3D effect, we scrunched up kitchen foil into little balls and glued them on to look like studs.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Our class was treated this week by getting a visit from a group that performed a traditional Lion Dance for us to celebrate Chinese New Year.  It was out of this world and we all enjoyed it!

Outdoor Learning

Last week, Miss Roberts took the Primary 4’s to do some outdoor learning in the playground.  Even though it was a little bit on the cold side, we all wrapped up warm and had a lovely afternoon.  Our goal is to do this more often.  We did some literacy activities by finding sticks and make up nouns, verbs and adjectives for it.  We also made some word pyramids with chalk.  We then measured some trees to work out how old they are.  Ask the children if they can remember how to find out how old a tree is!  We ended our lesson by all being warm inside the ‘Bothie Tent’ and made up a one word story.

Learning about what babies need

In Health and Welbeing we are learning about the needs of a baby after it is born.  We had 4 lovely visitors in class to help us understand and ask questions about this.  All the children really enjoyed this and had some interesting questions.  They brought in baby pictures of themselves and we had a ‘guess who is the baby’ game where we had to write down who they thought the photo was of.  We had such a great time doing this.  We will now be looking at how we have changed from being babies, to being in Primary 4.

Burns Celebrations

Every year we celebrate Robert Burns by having a ceilidh at school.  Every year group learns a different dance.  This year we learned how to dance the ‘Virginia Reel’.  The children did a fantastic job and had lots of fun participating in this.  We also had a few brave children that stood in front of the whole and recited their Scottish Poem they had to learn.  Well done!
