P1T Christmas Party

Today was our Christmas party. We had great fun playing musical bumps, corners and other dancing games. We even had a very special visitor. Thank you to the P7s for organising our party, we had a great time!

Medic in P1T

In P1T we have been learning about people who help us and the different jobs people in our community do. Wallace Bruce came to visit us. He is an offshore medic. He showed us the special clothing and footwear he wears to keep him safe offshore and he brought special equipment in. We really enjoyed seeing Wallace take Mrs Lumsden’s blood pressure and Miss Dyker’s heart rate. Thank you Wallace for visiting us. We really enjoyed your visit.

Julia Donaldson Stories

In Primary 1 we have been reading Julia Donaldson stories. We have enjoyed exploring the events and characters in the story. We have also been learning about rhyming and having been trying to listen out for the words that rhyme in the story.

This week we have been reading ‘Room on the Broom’. Yesterday we discussed how we could make our own brooms. We searched our playground looking for suitable broom materials. We have found that twigs with leaves work well. We then compared our brooms and discussed whether there would be room on our broom for all the animals. Some of our brooms were even long enough for us to sit on!

First Full Week in Primary 1

We have had a great first full week in Primary 1. We have already been busy learning the sounds s, a and t. We have been learning how to form these letters and to identify these sounds in words. We have also been learning songs to go with each of our sounds.

In Numeracy we have been learning how to form the numbers 1 and 2 and we have enjoyed playing lots of games to practise our number recognition and counting skills.

Look at the photos of us learning in lot of different ways!
