Sunflowers

We have been learning all about plants: how they grow and the name of the different parts of a plant.  Last week we planted sunflowers and we have really enjoyed watching them grow. We also created our own sunflower out of  a paper plate and other materials and labelled it showing the different part of the flower.

Summerhill Visit

Today we visited Summerhill Home. We sang Easter songs and some of our favourite nursery rhymes. We really enjoyed singing to the residents and talking to them afterwards.

Easter Egg Hunt

We had great fun on Thursday with our partner class doing an Easter Egg hunt. We had to find hidden eggs which had Maths sums to complete. When we had the answer we scored the number off on our sheet. The number 10 egg told us where all the chocolate eggs were hidden!

Push and Pull Forces

In P1 we have been investigating push and pull forces. We went into the ELC garden and investigated the toys there. We had to decide if they needed to be pushed or pulled. The ELC then came out to join us and we had great fun explaining to some of our brothers and sisters in the ELC which toys needed pushed and which needed pulled.

Mini Me

Primary 1 have been learning how to take photos on a class iPad to record their learning. They have included their ‘mini me’ to show who completed the activity.

Look at these great addition sums caught on camera!

Library Visit

On Monday we visited the school library with our partner class, P4/5. P4/5 taught us how to find a book and take it out using the new library system. We then got the chance to share our book with our P4/5 helper before taking it home to share with our families. Thank you P4/5 we loved our library visit with you.

Numicon

We have been developing our knowledge of numbers to 10 through using Numicon. We played lots of games and we had to find the  Numicon pieces that were more or less than  5 and put them in order from 1-10.

Burns Celebration

We have been learning all about Robert Burns: who he was and why he is famous.  We have also been learning a ceilidh dance: The Prince of Orange,  ready for our Burns Celebration on the 25th of January. We have being making a flag table centre and place mats. Look at us busy at work.
