In January we are learning about the author Mairi Hedderwick and the stories of Katie Morag. We will be looking at the characters and their lives on the Isle of Struay.

New pupils in Primary 2 – We are delighted to welcome Freya and Daniel to our class and we hope they enjoy their time at Abbotswell.

Maths – In our CLIC sessions we will be focusing on : –

C – Counting – Counting in 2s

L – Learn its – adding on 3 – (5 + 3 = 8), (6 + 3 = 9), (8+3 = 11)

I – It’s Nothing New – Finding half of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10

C – Calculations – Halving numbers up to 20

The complete list of Learn Its can be found in the pink home books. It would really help pupils prepare for their Beat That assessments on Friday if they could regularly revise these facts. At the moment they get 60 seconds to answer 17 facts and we are aiming to reduce this time to 30 seconds soon – quite a challenge !!!

Dont we look a merry, festive bunch! Lovely to see the children in their colourful Christmas Jumpers today and great to be raising money for Save the Children – thank you very much for the donations!

What a super afternoon we had today at our Christmas Party! We played games, showed off some fab moves on the dance floor and enjoyed some party food. The highlight of the afternoon was of course a visit from a very special visitor!!

Our Reindeer Dust Enterprise proved to be a huge success! All 200 bags were sold! We sold the majority of our bags at the Christmas Concert and the last few were sold at the Fayre on Saturday. We are so proud of the children for all their hard work….I think we may have a few potential future candidates for ‘The Apprentice’ in years to come!!

Primary 2 enjoyed a super afternoon of Winter crafts at the Duthie Park last week.  We made a class wreath, some sparkly tree decorations and had lots of fun getting messy during our bird feeder activity! Elfie enjoyed our outing too!!

Congratulations to Tolu on her Pupil of the Week Award! Tolu has worked extremely well during our Reindeer Dust Enterprise activities. She has shown good initiative and organisational skills. Well done Tolu!

Elfie has turned out to be a very popular new member of the class! He has however been getting up to all sorts of mischief during his first week in P2…

We were busy at the end of last week working on the marketing stage of our Reindeer Dust Enterprise.  As a class, we decided on the pricing of our product and how we were going to advertise it. The children worked hard to make some wonderful posters and enjoyed going to talk to the other classes in the school to show off their posters and finished product. We are now all looking forward to the selling stage at the Christmas Concert this week and the Christmas Fayre next Saturday.
