Farewell to Mrs Fyfe!

image

We were all very sad to say Goodbye to Mrs Fyfe at the end of term. We have all loved working with Mrs Fyfe in Primary 2 this year and we wish her lots of luck in her new teaching role. We are sure she will keep in touch and pop back to see us at some point.

We are now looking forward to welcoming Mrs Douglas into P2 for our final term.  Mrs Douglas will be in class on a Monday, Tuesday and alternate Fridays. We also welcome back Miss Blair for the first 4 weeks of term. We are all looking forward to a busy and exciting term ahead in Room 3!

An Eggcellent Afternoon!!

Room 3 was bursting with creativity this afternoon as the boys and girls took part in our Egg Decorating Design Task.  It was great to see everyone hard at work and using their imagination to produce some wonderful creations! We had everything from Princesses to Tarantulas!!

Mrs Brechin had the difficult job of judging the competition and choosing a winning egg. It was so tough that Mrs Brechin decided on a few Runners Up too!

Here are our Runners Up with their fabulous designs – Cinderella, Spotty the Alien and King of the Universe!

And finally our very proud winner with his amazing (and slightly scary!!) creation – Tommy the Tarantula!

Just a reminder that the whole school will be going up to the church  on Monday morning for our Easter Service. The children may wish to bring along a donation for the church collection.

We would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter!  Hope the Easter Bunny brings lots of eggs!!

Sport Relief – Friday 18th March

Just a reminder that Abbotswell School will be taking part in fundraising efforts this week for Sport Relief 2016. We would like to invite the children to come along to school on Friday dressed in their sports gear and we ask that they bring a £1 donation with them on the day. Hopefully we can raise lots of money for a very worthy cause!

Thank you to you all for your support with costumes, competition entries etc and helping us to make World Book Day a big success for the children!

World Book Day – Thursday 3rd March

image

We are all looking forward to a fun packed day on Thursday as we celebrate World Book Day at Abbotswell! We have lots of super activities planned including writing a whole school story, making character puppets and story telling. Here are a few reminders of information relating to the day:

  • We would like every child to bring in a wooden spoon before Thursday so that we can use them to create character puppets on the day. Well done to those who have already brought one in!
  • The children are invited to enter our Extreme Reading Challenge Competition if they wish, by bringing in a photograph of themselves reading a book in an unusual or adventurous place! There will be a prize for the winner!
  • Raffle tickets will be on sale this week in school to win a signed copy of one of the Short listed Scottish Book Award Titles.
  • We would like all the children to come to school on Thursday dressed up as one of their favourite book characters and if they have a copy of the book they could bring it along with them on the day. There will be a whole school fancy dress parade in the afternoon and prizes awarded for some of the best costumes!

We are sure all the children (and Staff!) will have lots of fun on the day!

Congratulation to Dami on receiving this week’s Pupil of the Week Award! Dami made a super effort with his Class Talk this week and it was lovely to see him sharing information confidently in front of his friends. Dami also scored full marks in his Big Maths Beat That Challenge for the first time. He was over the moon and so were we!! We are very proud of you Dami! Keep up the good work!

We were also delighted to see Murron receive a Playground Star Award this week! Murron received her award for always sharing her football and being a kind, caring friend to others. You are such a lovely girl Murron and a real role model in our class! We are very proud of you too!
