Following on from a busy week last week, we started this week with a fantastic ‘Toy Workshop’ with Mrs Legdon who came to visit and brought a wonderful selection of old and new toys. The whole class had two sessions. In the first session we heard a lot about how toys have changed over the years. The children already knew quite a bit about different materials that toys, past and present, might be made of. They watched and listened carefully to our visitor. In the afternoon we went back for session two and had fantastic fun trying out all the different toys. We learned how to control a diabalo, loved spinning tops and decided we like white boards and pens much better than slates!

Hopefully everyone can spot themselves in some of the photos.

We wrote Thank You letters to Mrs Legdon in our writing on Wednesday.

We have also really enjoyed making some of our own toys in class.

Last week we made mini rockets and this week after or Toy Workshop we found out more about a toy that has been around for at least 400 years and then made our own version of a ‘Ball and Cup’ toy. They need good hand-eye coordination to use them!

We are looking forward to showing some of you round our busy classroom when you visit us on Open Day next Thursday, 28th March
