Ice!

We have been very interested in exploring ice in the garden on cold days.  We have been experimenting with how it melts when we touch it and are interested in talking about the shapes of the ice we have found.   We plan to explore this further after the Christmas holidays and are hoping for more cold weather.

  1. Conor has been telling Liam about the ice experiment he was doing in school so we are going to try them at home. Liam likes playing with ice…and eating/crunching it, he likes the feeling in his mouth! He also likes to break through the ice in his water tray in the garden.

  2. Daniel recently was up at Hazlehead with his cousins from Houston. The pond was frozen solid and they were having fun breaking the ice and comparing the thickness and different shapes they all got – it was a job making sure none of them fell in but they had fun!

  3. Well we did our ice experiment… freezing lego men in a cup of water. Liam could barely contain himself waiting for it to harden. The fun he had putting hot water and cold water in the cup to test which would melt it was priceless. He quickly realised that the hot water was the best option.
