We are all enjoying the opportunities to make new friendships or develop relationships. We are all accessing more areas of the nursery now and are relishing new experiences such as going to the playground and using new resources. Here is a snapshot of nursery over the last few days:

Parent Focus Group
The sign-up sheet for the parent focus group is now up on the focus group wall. Please sign your name if you wish to join the focus group. We recommend that parents remain on the focus group for the entire year and where possible attend one meeting each term.
This term the first group meeting will be on Thursday 29th September at 10.30am (morning class) and 2.30pm (afternoon class).
If you have been on the focus group previously we would appreciate you giving the other parents an opportunity to sign up before you add your name.
‘Sharing the Learning’
We are delighted to offer all nursery parents the opportunity to attend our ‘Sharing the Learning’ evening on Tuesday 13th September from 6.30pm until 7.30pm. This will be an adults only event and will involve a presentation explaining how to build upon learning at home. This was an area that nursery parents were most unsure of in recent audits. Parents will also be given their account details for our secure online learning portal.
As new information will be shared we recommend that all returning parents and new families attend. Please look out for the letter in your child’s tray this week.
Physical Friday
We will be focusing on physical skills every Friday. Today we developed our skills in throwing, catching and kicking, tried to balance and climb, used tennis rackets and pedaled frantically in the playground! It was lots of fun and has given the nursery staff ideas for future physical development. We definitely have a few Andy Murray’s in the making! 🙂
Our tricky problem
Some of the morning boys and girls have a big problem….they can’t agree what type of bird is in the animal box. They looked on the iPad at photographs of big birds, went to the library to look in books and even asked the janitor! Olivia says, ‘it’s actually not an ostrich!’ They decided to draw pictures of the bird and stick them up on the noticeboard to get all the mummies and daddies to help them solve their tricky problem! If you look closely at the photographs you will be able to see the toy bird that is causing such a fuss! Please offer any suggestions by reply to this post. The children said they wanted it solved by tomorrow! 🙂
Nursery Trip
We are delighted to be offering the children and their families the opportunity to participate in our annual autumn/getting to know you trip on Thursday 6th October to Drum Castle. These trips have been hugely successful in the past and involve children and their families getting to know the new staff, new children and new families.
Please look out for the letter about this in your child’s tray.
Thank you.
Tissue Request
Please could all children bring 1 box of tissues for nursery use. Thank you.
Cults Nursery Development
The nursery development plan for 2016/2017 is now available for parents to read. It is situated on the small table outside the nursery door. Please take a moment to read this to familiarise yourself with the priorities and planned development for nursery this year. We would welcome comments from parents on the parent comment sheet at the rear of the folder. Our priorities this year will be child-led planning and the use of the Interactive Learning Diaries.
