There have been a few changes with assembly the last few weeks but we are now back to normal from this week.  Two weeks ago we had Robbie Simpson, who won the marathon bronze medal for Scotland at the Commonwealth games.  He shared his story to date and led a question and answer session was was so inspiring and interesting.

This week as assembly we focused on health week, which culminates with sports day on Friday.  Assembly was about winning, losing and taking part.  We brainstormed games, and in one minute the children came up with 16 different games; fantastic!  We then discussed why we play games; responses included for fun, to spend time with family, to try and win and for quiet time.  Volunteers read out short stories about their experiences of playing games and this really brought the message home to the children about trying your best and the feelings associated with this.  As an entire assembly group, we decided that as long as you try your best that is the best you can do.  Taking this another step forward, one volunteer suggested that on sports day, no matter where you finish in the race you can say well done to your friends, and if everyone does that it will make everyone happy!  I couldn’t have said it better myself!
