At assembly today we continued to learn about the right to be treated fairly. We discussed scenarios of things happening to two different people but experiencing very different outcomes, e.g. two people asking if they could take their bikes to school; one told she and the other told absolutely no way. Two people falling and breaking their leg; one going to hospital straight away to be cared for and the other in another part of the world not able to seek any medical treatment. The children were very good at explaining why this was fair or not and more importantly able to explain why.
Volunteers then acted out the story The Tiger Who Came to Tea. This brought our learning of late to life as they were able to identify with the characters of who was behaving fairly or not and what they could have done differently to make it fair.
Stars of the Week
Star Class were P1M as many from P1M shared super answers, volunteered and followed the rules perfectly.
I have to go look out the tiger who came to tea to remind myself of the moral of that story!
I have to say Miss M your assemblies are generating all sorts of discussion between the wee Closey’s and the mama….Conor does enjoy being the dramatic underdog who is apparently frequently treated unfairly!! I remind him of your assemblies and what it is really like to be treated unfairly! He soon realises that he is pretty fortunate and on the scale of unfair treatment he is nowhere near the bottom….
Challenging learning your providing……love it!
