29.1.18

Assembly this week focused on children experiences of school all over the world.  We accessed the website www.sendmyfriend.org and listened to two stories; one boy in Malawi and one girl in Senegal.  The boy attended school but not all of his siblings did and the girl did not attend school until her teens because she was blind.  We had a fabulous, detailed discussion about this and brought the discussion back to rights; do all children have the same rights?  Were the boy and girl both accessing their rights?  Is that fair?  All learners answered very responsibility and honestly, which shows they are gaining a good understanding of UNCRC.

Stars of the Week –

Star Class were P1S.  Well done for winning Star Class for the first time.

  1. I am glad to,hear that your right discussions are having an impact. Well done keep up with the great work. You never know you may well be encouraging some of these children to go on and be members of UNICEF or some other activist group which aim to promote and help others less fortunate. I do hope as my boys grow and learn they would feel they could do something to help others have all the rights they were fortunate to have 👍🏻
