Scottish Book Week

It’s Scottish Book Week and we had a fantastic time visiting our new school library for the grand opening today. The new library has so many amazing books and a big comfy sofa too! We are all very excited to have our first class library slot there next week. After seeing our new library, we all got to choose a book to take home and keep. We also got great Book Bug bags that we are really excited about.

In the afternoon, the Primary 1’s parents came in for a literacy workshop to find out about the phonics activities the P1’s do to help them learn their sounds. Everyone had lots of fun – including the parents! The Primary 1’s also did an amazing job performing some nursery rhymes. Thank you to everyone who came along to the workshop!

Superworm

Over the past two weeks, P1/2 have been reading Superworm as part of our topic on Julia Donaldson. We really enjoyed this book and discovered lots of rhyming words in it!

We all drew a picture of our favourite part from the story. Here are a few of them:

We especially liked when the bees used Superworm as a skipping rope and when the lizard got tied up and dumped in the rubbish pile!
