We made posters to advertise our decorations and we priced them at £1 each.  The Christmas Fair was a great success and we were very happy that our stall made a profit.

The children in P1/2 have been very busy working on their Enterprise Topic!  First of all they chose which role they would like within our class project.  Then as part of their research they gathered lots of information by visiting some classes to ask them questions.  They then created a graph to analyse the results.  Next the excitement really began when following our research we decided to make Holly Hedgehogs and Holly Wreaths.  The children are very proud of them!  Now it is time to begin planning our advertising and learning more about money to help us move on to the next stage within our Enterprise project.  Here are some photos of the progress we have made so far!

We liked learning about the seasonal changes in Autumn.  We pretended we were investigators and we went on a hunt around the school to look for signs of Autumn.  P1/2 would like to wish you all a wonderful October Holidays!

We have loved our Julia Donaldson Topic.  Our last Julia Donaldson story this week was, The Scarecrows Wedding.  Here are some photos of the P1 children in our class creating detailed black pen drawings and some of the wonderful descriptive stories the P2 children wrote.

We have been focusing on reading Julia Donaldson stories.  The P1 children have been creating detailed black pen drawings to show the main characters in stories and the events that have happened.  The P2 children have been retelling these stories in their own words through writing.  They have been ensuring that when they are writing the stories they have discussed the main events in the correct order.

This week our challenge was to retell our own favourite stories.  Some children chose a Julia Donaldson story which we had read at school.  However, some children also chose to bring in their own personal favourite story from home!  Here are some photos of us discussing our favourite stories during Circle Time and some of our written work.

The P2 boys and girls in our class have been enjoying our Julia Donaldson Topic so far this term.  This week, our focus was on The Gruffalo.  Each afternoon we have been busy taking part in lots of learning activities linked to this story.  This afternoon in class to celebrate the end of The Gruffalo, we had a Gruffalo Tea Party.  We created menus and ate some wonderful creations.  Our menu included, Roasted Fox, Owl Ice Cream and Scrambled Snake.  However, we also decided to include some GRUFFALO CRUMBLE!  Here are some photos of us enjoying our Afternoon Tea.

So far the P2 children have been learning how to build words with the sh and ch sounds.  They have written lots of sentences with these words too! 🙂  This week they will be learning how to spell lots of words with the th sound.

So far in P1 we have learned the sounds s, a, t and i.  Your child will have their sound book in their green reading folder to show you.  Please ask them to show you the action, sing the song and even try to think of some words which have these sounds in them.  We have done a great job so far of trying to hold our pencils properly when learning the correct letter formations too.  You could ask your child to show you their Crocodile Grip at home, as the more we practise the better we will get! 🙂

The very responsible P2 children have all enjoyed being Playground Buddies with the new P1 boys and girls.  They have been great role models to our new P1 children and they have been extremely helpful and kind.
