Sharing our learning

We created a story booklet about the birth of Jesus! It took two days of writing to finish our books. We then shared our hard work with the primary 7’s. They were very im pressed with our writing and our reading skills.

Christmas Jumper day and Lunch

Primary 2/3 were feeling very festive today for Christmas Jumper day! They particularly enjoyed opening their crackers, reading their jokes to each other and after lots of selloptape our party hats were on just in time for lunch! Lunch was served by all adults in the school along with some festive music and cheer! The children sat together for their turkey dinner or festive tattie and waited for all to finish before going to play! Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Show

DPPG9001

The children loved performing to all the special visitors at the show yesterday. After learning all about the West Indies and their Christmas traditions, they made a coconut tree display for the hall- using lots of country flags and facts to decorate the tree. The song we sang was called the Calypso Carol. They should be very proud of their beautiful signing!

Christmas Enterprise

The children had great fun making head boppers to sell at the Christmas Fair ( although some headless turkeys didn’t quite make it to the table due to sever stickiness!). We bought our items  then worked out how much each pair cost.  After this we discussed how much we should sell them for to ensure we made a profit. The children decided to sell them for £1 – therefore making 51p profit per item. We managed to sell all bops within 24 minutes and made over £20 in profit!

Library Opening day!

We were very excited to visit the brand new library on its opening day! We watched it being opened by Mrs Duthie, the oldest and youngest child in the school and the Library pupil voice group.  We were shown how to use it properly by Mrs Duthie and then got a chance to explore. Next we moved next door where we got to take home a free book or DVD and received our free book bags. These were full of new books, games and resources to use at home. On the way back to class we went on a hunt to identify the teachers hiding behind their favourite books. The pictures were hard to find and work out but it was lots of fun! When we went back to class we created bookmarks for using in the library, explored our book bags and used our story cubes to retell stories to our friends. At 2 o’clock a bell rang and we all stopped what we were doing and Miss Munro read us a story from the new library.  It was a great day!

Our Class Assembly

On Friday we performed our assembly to the whole school and our visitors. We were very nervous, however we had worked hard and practiced lots before the big day! Our singing even made some of the audience cry! We were very proud of ourselves and won class of the week!
