Term 3 – Week 6

Hello,

A lot has been happening over the last few weeks!

IDL

We have delved deep into our IDL focus on World War Two and so far we have looked at the origins of the war, The Blitz, evacuation, the Holocaust, persecution of Jewish people and the story of Anne Frank. P7T are showing a very mature and respectful attitude when we are discussing these themes in class which is great to see!

Literacy

We have been busy writing some fantastic descriptive pieces including a first-person experience of The Blitz and a diary extract exploring the process of evacuation – look out for one of these in learning journeys this week and feel free to add comments and discuss these at home. We are also enjoying reading our whole-class novel ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’.

Health and Wellbeing

P7T seem to be enjoying Frisbee in PE with Miss Macrae (see photos on her blog) and are engaging well with Yoga on Friday afternoons. Discuss some of the poses we have been exploring as well as the physical, mental and emotional benefits of yoga at home.

Assembly

Please have a look at Miss McKay’s blog for photos and discussion of themes from Red Unit assemblies.

Please don’t forget to sign/leave a comment in Learning Journeys and return to school after the long weekend. Have a great few days off!

Mr Thomson
