Happy New Year!

M I E Brave

We have been doing moving image education on the movie brave. So far we have looked at the three S’s: sound, setting and story.

Sound

We had to listen to a short clip of brave but the screen was off, we had to do a worksheet on what we heard and learned about Foley artists and the sound they create example: footsteps on snow =stomping on cornstarch. We also learnt about diegetic and non-diegetic sounds. Digetic means sounds that are happening within the world of the film.

Setting

A setting is a very important part of a movie it set’s the scene and tells you loads more information of a movie. We did a carousel activity where we looked at still images from Brave and described them.

Story

We made storyboards about the movie brave, it must be very difficult to animate a movie. We had to choose a clip from brave and do a sketch of 6 snaps of the clip. We did this with our shoulder partner.

2019 Art

We have been making 2019 pictures inspired by Richard Strachen who graduated from Gray’s school of art. We made 2019 art with in school resolutions around it.

Scots languageĀ 

We were looking at the Gruffalo in Scots and we did an activity on it, we learned lots of new Scottish words and improved our knowledge of the Scots language. We used a Scots dictionary to translate some of the words we had not heard before.
