Week beginning 30th May 2016

Hello everyone, we hope you have had a lovely weekend!

Last week we enjoyed a trip to Mrs Yule’s allotment to help her with some planting! The children helped to plant some strawberry plants and potatoes, Mrs Yule explained to the boys and girls how important it is to look after the allotment and what sort of things she likes to grow! The children all really enjoyed the experience, a big thank you to Mrs Yule for having us!

Week beginning 23rd of May

Hello everyone!

Apologies for not posting, we have had a few technical difficulties but they are hopefully resolved now!

The butterflies have been enjoying lots of opportunities to play outside this week, even though the weather has not been very nice we have still had fun!

imageimageimageimageimage

We said goodbye to our friend Ziggy the alien this week. Ziggy was visiting our nursery to teach the boys and girls all about road safety and staying safe outside. The children have loved having Ziggy in the nursery, but it is time for him to return to his own planet. Before he left, Ziggy gave the children their own certificate for crossing the road and being safe when walking to the woodies. Ziggy was very impressed with how safe and sensible the butterflies were!

Finally we have all been on ‘worm watch’ this week! The children have been using the magnifying glasses to observe our wriggly worms! They are getting bigger already!

These are some of the photos from our trip to the university.  We loved our trip, and really learned a lot about music and imstruments.  We have started drawing pictures for a display so look out for these and we are also going to make and send a thank you card to Mrs Black and the music students.

We have been planting seeds this week and writing labels for them. We will water them every day and check their growth.  When they are big enough we will measure them.  We are also doing an experiment with celery and food colouring to see what happens to it-Emily thinks the celery will change colour! We will check it every day to see! We have also placed carrot tops in some water to observe what happens to them, Melissa thinks they will grow, Erma said that leaves might shoot out of the top!

On Friday we were “ready for action” for Sport Relief and had a great time on our obstacle course. We had to run, climb, balance, roll, jump and crawl. We are developing our spatial awareness and ability to move and control our bodies well.

Week beginning 22nd February

This week the children noticed a problem in nursery- some people were forgetting to wash their hands and some people didn’t want to! So we had a discussion about how to solve this problem and decided to remind each other to wash hands and to make some posters.  We are also doing an experiment with bread. We all touched one piece of bread and then sealed it in a bag, then we used tongs to take out another piece and seal it without touching it. When we were spea about what might happen to the bread Daisy said it will go rotten and Clara thinks the piece of bread we all touched will have more germs on it because we have germs on our hands.  We are waiting patiently to see what happens, come and have a look!

We made some frosty pictures using paint, glitter and marbles. It was quite tricky to begin with but we had great fun trying and soon got the hang of wiggling the tray!

” It’s like grapes!” Melissa

” I think it has juice inside it.” Daisy

On Wednesday we had great fun making mud pies at the woodies! We also did a spot of bird watching with our binoculars!
