Star writers

Well done for some super pieces of writing! We are trying hard to remember finger spaces, full stops and capital letters. We are also trying to sound out and spell words ourselves.

World Book Day

The whole school took part in World Book Day. Every class decorated their classroom door, turning it into  popular book cover.

We all came to school dressed up as our favourite book character and had a parade round the playground for parents to see our costumes.

We did paired reading with the primary 6 class and went on  a Where’s Wally’ treasure hunt in the playground.

Recycling

Primary 1 have been learning about recycling and how important it is to the environment. We have also been discussing the water cycle and collaged posters of how water is continually moving in a cycle.

Our topic as we move through this term is now dinosaurs (watch this space!)

Star writers and Decorate a Door

We have 3 super writers! They each wrote at least 1 sentence and even used an exclamation mark at the end of their sentence. Our theme was Dinosaurs in the Spermarket, a very funny book written by Timothy Knapman. This also provided our inspiration for decorating our classroom door.

We also saw some very exciting photographs. L. is going to be a big sister in October!

We used Numicon this week to help some of us take away in maths. img_0989 img_0990

The Chinese Year of the Rooster.

February 1, 2017 by Ms Shand

We have been learning about the Chinese New Year festival. We have tried to paint the symbol for the Year of the Rooster.

We have also made some Chinese lanterns. We have learned that red is a lucky colour for Chinese people.

We have also written instructions on how to make a lantern. We used bossy verbs and the sentence openers first, next, then etc.
