Disney Super Slides

This week and last week we started to create a working ride to show to the class. Our ride was made up of three different Disney themes including Minnie Mouse, King Mickey and The Tangled Tower.

It was super fun, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and our slide worked!

Death Roll

In our Topic we were given the task to make rides you would see in a theme park but there was some little twists! We could only use specific materials such as tape, construction kits and circuits. On our 5th idea we managed to make a vehicle that went on a ramp that we made with polyroid construction kits and it was a lot of fun!

Devastation

Our ride was a success and a failure. The reason was because the motors did not work and it was destroyed 3 times over! The rope snapped once but the reason for success was that we could repair it as part of a team. It was a cable car.

The Loop DE Loop

On Wednesday we made theme park rides since our topic is Theme Parks. We were the only people in the class to make a roller coaster. The ride was made using: cardboard, wooden blocks, straws and magnets. We used the magnets to pull the cart along the track. When we tried to pull the cart with four of the Lego people in it, it didn’t move that well so we took the people out and it worked.

Let’s Have A Tea Party

Our names are Lola, Bridget, Meghna and Dawn, and we created the Let’s Have A Tea Party ride. On this ride you spin around until you fall into a ball pit. We made it out of cardboard, straws, string and other materials. We thought the ride was a success despite the fact it fell apart soon after we showed everyone. It was a fun experiment and we hope to do something like it again.

Black Coffee

We came together after Lois thought of the idea as she loves Starbucks and is a big fan of horror and danger. We were extremely risky with our idea but we are proud of how it worked. Our ride starts with a drop into a boat which we then poured water into and it free-fell.

This week Mrs. Shaw set us the challenge of building our very own working rides such as:

  • Slides
  • Droppers
  • Carousels
  • Human catapult
  • Rollercoaster

The rules of this technology project are:

You can only use the materials provided (or materials from home), they have to be freestanding and have to support at least four mini figures.

Everyone is in groups from 3 to 5 people, and each group is making one ride. They are looking good so far!

Next week we are going to continue making these and show the class. We both enjoyed ourselves and we can’t wait to continue!

Junior Enterprise Game

Last term we took part in the Junior Enterprise Game with Mr Cassells for a five week period. The aim of the game was to get a higher share price each week. We did this by making our own decisions when spending our money. We had to make some very difficult decisions but luckily in the end we came out on top, with a final share price of 533p. Overall we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

P7 Christmas Party

On the 17th of December 2015 we had our Christmas party! It was a chance to chat, eat food and have fun. First we played party games such as: musical bumps, musical statues etc. After the party games (and lots of Haribo sweets) we went back up to the class and ate food that that had been brought in by all of us. Eating food wasn’t the only thing we did. The girls were singing to ‘Hello” by Adele, while the boys were singing to Queen speech not to mention the ‘French colours song’ that gave us all nightmares! After all the food we calmed down by doing some Scottish country dancing like Β the Gay Gordons and other classic dances. Overall it was an amazing day!
