We are delighted that our door was voted the best door design. We worked hard on the door and are so pleased with the final result. Thank you to all the girls and boys who voted for us. Our prize for winning was a selection of books for our class library

We were reading the book called “Fire Mountain.”. This is a story about the terrible eruption of Vesuvius over Pompeii.  We would like to share some of our research about  Volcanoes. Thank you to Mrs Reid who came in to look at all our amazing facts.

“I made a volcano out of paper mache.”

“I found out volcanoes erupt when magma rises through cracks in the Earth’s crust.”

” I made a detailed diagram of the cross section of a volcano.”

Groups made puppets for the characters who appear in The legend Of The Lost Keys. We acted out the episode.

On Friday 20th May P4 R20 went to the ASV (Aberdeen Sports Village) to take part in the Youth Games. We were chosen to represent Broomhill. When we got there by bus we met Jamal at the ASV. He stayed with us the whole day. First we played rugby we thought it was really FUN!! Then Jamal took took us to tennis, we played skittles. After that Jamal took us to the ceremony where we walked round and round the arena singing our Broomhill chants which was really fun! Then we did a world record for the longest row. Then we had our lunch and there were 2 mascots, a turtle and a monkey. After which Jamal took us inside to do a basketball obstacle course then we did shooting into hoops. Finally we went to play a game of football which was the BEST!! Then we went back to the bus and got medals, we really enjoyed the day.

We listened to the story of Daedalus and Icarus. We planned our writing and created a mini – story about the main events.

We have created bar graphs to show the results of our garden birds survey homework.  We spotted lots of blackbirds, sparrows and crows. We did not see many linnets, swallows or robins.

Over the past few weeks we have been lucky enough to have been taught PE by RGU students. We enjoyed playing tennis, basketball and rugby games.

Today we went to field for our PE lesson. This was our first time there and we really enjoyed it. We got together with Room 18 and played a game of rounders.

Room 20 and Room 18  had fun with maths this morning. The children managed to find 35 maths questions hidden in the wildlife garden. Then they used their mental maths strategies to help work out the answers.

Congratulations to all the boys and girls who have completed a 10 week swimming block. You have worked hard.
