It’s a busy week ahead.

Fingers crossed for a dry morning tomorrow so we can go ahead with our sports day.

We are having our talent show auditions on Tuesday afternoon so if you want to take part come prepared. You could sing, dance, tell jokes, do magic, or any other talent you may have. There will be a panel of judges (classmates) to pick our classes act.

Thursday morning is the day our act will show off on stage to the other Infant classes.

Friday morning the whole school will be walking to South Holburn Church, any parents that can help please contact the office.

No homework this week. Please ensure that all reading books are returned. There will be old jotters and work coming home this week so a plast

The children are working hard on their PLP target of being able to write instructions. The best bit was getting to use the instructions we highlighted to make fingerprint sheep or handprint crows.

Room 4 have had a great time at the Woodies this week meeting the children who will be starting Primary One in August.

As well as making a Fairy house the children sequenced stories on a washing line, built dens, made shakers and used crayons to do leaf rubbings

Hello Room 4

I now have access to the class blog and will be updating it as often as possible.

Class info:

Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday.

Miss Roper is back and has a few continuous days to complete so she will be teaching the class until she finishes next Friday. I am still overseeing what is planned for the class and ensuring continuity.

We are working hard on writing instructions at the moment, one of our PLP targets. We wrote instructions on How to brush our teeth this morning. Last week we worked with a partner to investigate instructions on how to create a fingerprint sheep and hand print crows. We highlighted time words and imperative (bossy) verbs. We then made them and followed the instructions successfully. Photos to follow.

We are learning Kung Fu punctuation with Miss Roper tomorrow, ask the children if they can show you any of their moves.

Our project at the moment is Farming. We have looked at the animals that can be found on a farm, growing beans and looking at seed germination so far. We are going to be doing some information handling relating to crops and animals and lots more interesting activities.

Room 4 scientists. Our dinosaur egg experiment.

image We discussed what we were going to do and then drew up our prediction. We then put on protective goggles and gloves. image image We discovered that when  you mix  bicarbonate of soda  and vinegar “the egg melts” and “fizzes.” Did we predict correctly?  image image Some of us thought it would hatch or disappear and some of us thought it would change colour.  We then drew up our experiment results. Some good predictions! We then found some  toy dinosaurs inside. image image

A special delivery for room 4!

Ms. Taylor brought a large box to room 4 this morning. What was inside? Some of us thought it might be a cake………

We were very lucky to see and hold such a large fossil ammonite. It lived in the seas and it is at least 65 million years old.  It became extinct at the same time as dinosaurs.  We are now going to write a newspaper report about our exciting arrival!
