Our Blind drawings

Last week we drew blind drawings of our selves with a mirror or our partners by sitting across from them. To do blind drawings we just trust our selves to draw real looking drawings. We tried to make them like Pablo Picasso drawings (they turned out well).

Memories of Mr Carter

image

Dear Mr Carter,

I hope you’ve enjoyed all of your years here at Broomhill School. We are sad to see you go. In this blog post we are going to sum up our greatest “Mr Carter Moments” at Broomhill.

In the 2016 dance-a-thon which was in memory of Mrs Rohan, Mr Carter dabbed. This was a happy moment – it was quickly followed by the rest of the teachers dancing behind the scenes to whip and nae nae!

We also liked being in assembly when he would let us lie down whilst he read stories to us – this was a relaxing experience. The P7s enjoyed two and a half fizz-whizzing years of reading the BFG with you. Another highlight of assemblies was all of his funny impressions, stories and his funny jokes! And not to mention his amazing drawings (haha).

Goodbye Mr Carter, we’ll miss you. P6/7 is wishing you (and your cap) all the best.

My Self Portrait Time Lapse

In art, I was drawing a self portrait and the background was a bit intricate. With the help of Miss Harper I decided to make a time lapse of the drawing process.

A time lapse is a video that is sped up for a more dramatic or shorter effect. It looks like the partaker of the video is doing work or a drawing at high speed.

Above you can see a clip of my time lapse. Enjoy!

Yugioh Club Information

In P5 we started Yugioh club. It was a big hit for Room 13 so we decided to start it in Room 21 and 20! We have 4 summoning classes which are Pendulum, Synchro, Fusion and Xyz. There will be a new class called Ritual. Each player starts with 4000/8000 life points a the aim of the game is to lower your opponent’s life points to zero by using Monster cards.

We enjoy having the opportunity to do card games we like in school with our friends. In the UNCRC it says all children have the right to form a social group with friends so this is why we have done this.

International Peace Day

Last Wednesday, which was the 21st of September, was when International Peace Day 2016 took place.  This date was chosen in memory of the founder’s grandfather who was a prisoner of war: his favourite number was 21. This is a day where people worldwide come together to take a step back from the worries of war. We began by watching an inspiring video which explained how Peace Day came about. Starting with just one family, the peace day project has developed into a day of peace which is recognised worldwide.

We took part in the peace crane project – we made origami birds which were decorated with words of peace and hope. We will be sending these to another community and we will also receive some. This helps to spread the message of International Peace Day. http://armedwiththearts.org

In order to show the friendship in our class, we made ourselves as a paper people chain to decorate our peace wall. Additionally, on peace day the company Puma help to make football matches happen around the world. We were hoping to host one as a class too, but the weather wasn’t on our side. Let’s hope Aberdeen borrows Spain’s sunshine this week so we can have a belated football match.

Here are some pictures of some of the activities we did on the day.

Roald Dahl’s Whizz-Phizzing Birthday!

September 20, 2016 by User deactivated

The 13th of September marked Roald Dahl’s giganticus 100th birthday. The school-chiddlers in P6/7 (Room 21) had a gloriumptious time celebrating. We brought Roald Dahl characters to life in the style of Quentin Blake, adding a bit of splendiferous colour to our wall display. We had a great time watching the live Roald Dahl party alongside Room 22 – some of our favourite parts were: learning that in the first draft of Matilda, she was a horrible little chiddler; watching a wonderful performance from Matilda the Musical and also the speed at which Quentin Blake can draw. Bringing Gobblefunk into our writing was a spectacular experience for all of us! You may be a bit biffsquiggled and think it sounds redunculous or all a bit of piggery-jokery but to any Roald Dahl super-fan (like us) it makes perfect sense!

Attached are some  pictures of our whoppsy-whiffling work.

Anyway, we better skididdle and continue with our writing!
