P4 took part in engineering weeks by taking part in 4 exciting challenges. In ‘The Sweet Factory’ primary 4 got to be mechanical engineers and created machines using movement and sound to create new sweets.
The second challenge ‘The Saucepan’ saw primary 4 being metallurgical engineers. Through observation and discussion primary 4 had to think of the what materials are used in creating saucepans and discuss why these were the best materials and find out where they came from.
Challenge 3 ‘Smug or Smog’ saw primary 4 designing, building and testing out a Victorian chimney pot. This was part of being a construction engineer.
The final challenge ‘Toys’R’ us’ was a design challenge that involved designing and scaling a Victorian dolls house. This challenge involved scaling, measuring, time management and self organisation.
