WORLD BOOK DAY

We all had so much fun celebrating World Book Day yesterday at Broomhill. Between dressing up as book characters, doing treasure hunts, designing new book covers, paired reading our favourite books and a parade for the parents – it was a day packed with exciting activities! It’s safe to say that everybody had a fantastic time. 😃📚

Google Expeditions

The boys and girls in P3 had an AMAZING time when we experienced Google Expeditions last week! We experienced a virtual reality expedition and we got to explore some really exciting places such as The Taj Mahal in India, the Great Wall of China, the Colloseum in Rome and an underwater expedition. After that we were able to go on a human body Google expedition and we learned all about the respiratory system. We got to see the inside of a human windpipe! 😃

Winter

We have had such a busy time this winter in Broomhill. Primary 3 performed their nativity ‘A Midwife Crisis’ just before Christmas and they had a brilliant time! For photos of this please see the blog for Room 19.

Santa Claus came to visit everyone at the Christmas party! He was very kind and P3 were very excited. 🙂

We have had a lot of fun creating our winter pictures as well.

It it will soon be springtime and we are all looking forward to the weather being slightly warmer and for new life outside with the plants and animals.

St. Andrew’s Day

Today the children are busy learning all about the patron saint of Scotland, St. Andrew.  Did you know? St. Andrew used to be a fisherman. Andrew was originally from Gallilee.  He was also a disciple of Jesus. A Pictish king had a dream about St. Andrew the night before an important battle – then on the day of the battle the king saw an X shaped cross across the blue sky and the king’s army won! The Scottish flag represents this with a white x shaped cross across a plain blue background.

P3 are having fun designing their own tartan while listening to Scottish music and are creating a fact file about St. Andrew.

Brazil Carnival Party!

P3 had a fantastic time dressing in bright colours and wearing their hand made headdresses for our brilliant Brazilian party. The pupils had the opportunity to taste exotic fruits like mango and passion fruit, along with playing some Brazilian themed games. 🙂 Some of the children from P3 room 12 are pictured below – for more pictures of all the P3’s having fun together, head over to P2/3 blog.

Engineering Week

This week the pupils have had the opportunity to become engineers for the week! They have been learning all about lots of different materials and how we can manipulate these materials to make new things. Today P3 were practising being civil engineers and used a mix of materials to build a den for baby bear. 🙂 P3 definitely had lots of fun! 🙂

Reminder…

A quick reminder to parents/guardians:

Pupils must have a full gym kit with them in school every day.

All pupils should have a smock or large old t-shirt to protect their uniform during art activities.

Please sign your child’s reading record and homework when work has been completed.

Thank you for your support!
