Back to December!

December was a very busy month with an amazing Nativity and fantastic party. I was very proud of all the children in the Nativity, what a super show they put on. Definitely some future actors and actresses!

BIG Write

BIG Write this week was creating instructions. First we wrote instructions to get from our classroom to the outdoor classroom. We had a great time testing out our instructions. Some children got all the way to the outdoor classroom and some well, didn’t quite make it out the door! We realised the importance of instructions being accurate.

On Thursday morning we made a cheese and cucumber sandwich. As we made it we talked about the bossy verbs and adverbs we could use in our writing.

The children wrote very accurate instructions for their sandwich recipes.image image image image image image image image

Carnival Time!

Last week we joined with rooms 12 and 19 to have a carnival party. All the children had a fantastic time playing Brazil themed games, tasting fruits that are grown in Brazil and wearing their wonderful masks! The mango was most popular and the papaya was the least!

Lots of Learning!

Miss McLaren has been very impressed with all the learning that has been taking place. Practising our letter sounds we used the cubes and made our own pairs games. The primary 3s raced to put their words in alphabetical order. In maths we worked hard to subtract and had great success with it. For Health and Well-Being we are encouraging ourselves to be kind to ourselves, recognising and giving ourselves credit for what we are good at. We made fantastic medals.

Engineering Week

Last week was extremely fun and busy with all our engineering tasks. We had a great time and worked really well with the other children in rooms 9 and 12. We learnt about the different types of engineers and the different skills they need to have.

Shape Madness!

The last few weeks we have gone a little shape daft! We have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes and their different properties. Each week have completed different stations.

We also started creating our community using all the junk modelling things that were brought in. First we sorted the junk into what 3D shape they were. Then we made a plan thinking about all the different things that are in our community. After that we painted our buildings and stuck them onto the street. Next week we are going to set the class up as a museum for the other classes to come and view our masterpieces!
