Sports Day!

What a super day we had at Sports Day! There were some amazing runners, hoppers and balancing skills and the children were fantastic at cheering on everyone. Lots of medals were won and all the children should be very proud of themselves, earning lots of House Points.

Pizza Express Trip

On Thursday we went to Pizza Express to learn how to make pizza. It was lots of fun and the children did a great job making their own pizza. They did really well trying different ingredients and following instructions. The staff at Pizza Express and our parent helpers, Jessica and Emma’s mums both said how brilliantly well behaved all the children were, so well done P2/3! The pizzas looked and tasted delicious, and I think the rest of the school were very jealous of our pizzas!

Awesome Egyptians!

Primary 2/3 have loved their Egyptian topic this term and have worked their socks off! They had great fun mummifying each other, working in teams to build a shaduf and created the most fantastic pyramids for homework. I am so proud and pleased with all the hard work the children and families at home have put in. Thank you for visiting our museum, the children had a brilliant time and we hope you did too!

Working hard!

This term has been action packed with lots of fun activities. We worked on our spelling, money skills and football skills (and sun even shone for us!) The children wrote fantastic fairy tales that they shared with nursery and Primary 1.

Welcome to Term 4!

Hello and welcome to the final term!

Just a few things to keep you informed;

PE – Tuesday with Mrs Begg, Friday with myself. Joggers and jumpers are ideal as we will be outside as much as possible and in the run up to sports day. Fingers crossed for sunshine!

Woodies – Thursdays as long as the Woodies isn’t too muddy. We will be going week about with Room 9 and Room 12 as part of transition activities.

Maths – this term we will be covering fractions, money and measurement. As well as continuing with the Learn Its and number skills. The class have done a great job with their Learn Its so far this year.

Literacy – in writing we will be covering fairy tales, instructions and poetry. Each week there will be a new phonic sound with revision weeks to help consolidate learning.

Homework – will continue to go out a Wednesday, to be returned on a Monday. Please continue to access Oxford Owls user name – class owls password – School

Any questions please feel free to use your child’s reading record or catch me in the playground after school.

Paramedic Visit

Today we were lucky to have Scott come and visit us. He told us about the equipment he uses and talked about the different bones and organs. He showed us how to check if our lungs and heart are working properly.

William – My favourite part was when he put the siren on in the ambulance.

Emma – My favourite was seeing all his different equipment.

Erin – My favourite part was when he put the sling on me!

Olive – I liked it when Scott put the sticky bits on William’s arms and legs.

January!

January has flown by us again! This month we have started our new topic of Superheroes including Real Life Superheroes. Primary 2 are focusing on People Who Help Us and Primary 3 are looking at the Body. The children have already been asking very interesting questions and have been finding out various things.

In maths we have been doing grid referencing and are moving on to data handling. We continue to work on our Learn Its and I’ve been very impressed with how enthusiastic the children are to learn these at home, it has really helped the class with their mental maths skills.

In literacy we continue to read daily and complete tasks linked to the stories. Please continue to read and sign the reading records and encourage children to bring their books everyday to school to complete their tasks. Some of the Primary 3 girls put on a super performance of The Day the Crayons Quit – unfortunately the videos are too big to attach to this post! In writing we have written some excellent persuasive letters and will be moving on to facts files soon.
