Miss Spowart will be with us for 5 weeks until the end of term and then returns next term for 4 weeks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday is pancake day &#8211; those who ordered will have a pancake for snack.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday is our next session of outdoor learning with Mr Miller. Please send the children to school wearing appropriate clothing for being outside all afternoon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>On Friday we celebrate World Book Day. Children should come to school dressed as a favourite book character.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ac\/public\/2018abbotswellp1c\/uploads\/sites\/7172\/2018\/08\/Phonics-300x100.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"70\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Letter Sounds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This week we continue with the digraphs (2 letter sounds), as we have now completed all the single initial sounds. These are a little trickier for the children to learn and remember as they are often in the middle of words rather than at the start.\u00a0 Our letter sounds this week are<strong> ch<\/strong>\u00a0and<strong> sh<\/strong>.\u00a0Letter<strong> ch<\/strong>\u00a0homework should be completed for <strong>Wednesday<\/strong> and letter<strong> sh<\/strong>\u00a0homework should be completed by <strong>Friday<\/strong>.
