We know how to use our arms and legs to jump higher and further.
We are very good at star jumps, tuck jumps and 180 jumps. We love using different apparatus to experiment with our jumps. We always jump and land safely – bending our knees is very important!
We have been so busy since we came back from our Christmas holidays! We have been learning lots about Scotland.
This week we continued to make some wonderful Scottish artwork which will be sent home in due course. We were also lucky enough to have some visitors in to Primary 1 to introduce us to Scottish Highland Dancing and drumming. We were extremely impressed with their talents.
We showcased our learning on this afternoon at a whole school assembly. Primary 1 performed a Fireball festival to Scottish music, shared our knowledge of Scottish words through games and demonstrations and sang a song (which we encouraged everyone else to join in with!)
We have started learning about programming in room 2. We learned about giving people and devices instructions to make them do things. We really enjoyed playing with the Beebots, Dot and Dash our school robots!
We would really like the children to bring in any other programmable toys they have from home next Friday. We want to see how many things we can control through programming and instructions.
Our Christmas party will be on Wednesday afternoon. There are a few options for what to do about party clothes.
The first option is that your child goes home for lunch and returns to school in all their finery for the party!
The second option is to put a whole change of clothes into school. Can we please ask that the outfit is not too complicated and that it is something the children are pretty much able to put on independently. No tights please. There is very little time to get changed and often only one adult in the classroom to help with dressing.
We are looking forward to a fun filled afternoon with Santa, games and part food. We hope they are not too excitable when it’s home time!!
Thank you to all those who helped us raise money for Save the Children today by wearing their Christmas jumper and donating £1.00. We were very cosy all day in our fantastic festive jumpers!
We have been using technology more and more in room 2 so we have started talking about how to stay safe when we use it. Today we talked about using nicknames, ‘Trust Clubs’ and keeping our personal details safe and secret.
