It’s starting to look very festive in the nursery!

Yesterday we were wrapping presents to go under the tree, we practised folding the paper and cutting sello-tape from the dispenser.

We also made chocolate fudge to sell as part of our Christmas enterprise. The fudge will be on sale at the open afternoon on Wednesday! (3-4pm)

In nursery, we brush our teeth every day! This is a ChildSmile initiative which is making a positive impact on the health of children’s teeth across Scotland!

Today the afternoon class visited Kincorth Academy to do shared reading with some S1 pupils! The children all really enjoyed the experience! We will be working with Kincorth Academy to do shared reading with both the morning and afternoon classes. Sometimes we will go up to them and sometimes they will come to visit us!

Here’s how to do it…..

We have been looking at how to keep safe on the run up to bonfire night.  The morning nursery shared what we had been learning at Assembly.  They were all superstars and spoke very clearly.

The Boys and girls had great fun dressing up and taking part in the Halloween fun and games on Monday.

We agreed our nursery rules and they are now on display in the school foyer!

This is week we have been learning more about letters and using the writing table to match and copy the alphabet. We have also been practising how to hold a pen properly!

This week we chose our class rules and we have been working hard to remember them!

In the garden we helped to make dens to play in! It was really fun and we pretended they were our houses!

This week in nursery we have been learning more about dinosaurs! The children have been looking up different dinosaurs in books, reading stories about dinosaurs and playing with dinosaurs in the water and sand! Our nursery garden is still overrun with all sorts of prehistoric creatures!

This week we had a special nursery birthday so two of the girls made a delicious cake!

Our smart panel is finally working so we have been drawing on it and practicing our touch screen control using only one finger.

We have also been using the smart panel to learn more about the dinosaurs! We really enjoy this song on YouTube, here is the link so you can watch it at home and learn even more!

At Abbotswell nursery we have all sorts of things for snack! Each week we try to theme our stack around what we are doing in the nursery using both our own, the children and the parents ideas!

The children always help to prepare snack and they learn so much in doing so! We also do lots of baking in nursery so that the children experience the fun of making their food from scratch!
