Term 3 Week 4

This week are continuing to explore and discover all about Scotland.

Animal – Wildcats and Capercaillies

Have you ever seen one? I wonder what noise they make?

Symbol – Castles

We are going to be looking at and creating our very own castles.

Have you ever been to a castle?

Food – As it is Robert Burns birthday this week we will be having a taste of Vegetarian Haggis!

I wonder if the children will give it a thumbs up or thumbs down?

Song – Heid, Shudders, Knaps and Taes

(head, shoulders, knees and toes)

Our focus letter this week will be ‘c‘. Can you name something that starts with this letter sound

Finally, our focus number will be the number 3. How many number 3’s can you see on your way to our setting?

Term 3 Week 3

This week we will be continuing discovering about Scotland.

Animal  – Puffin – The children think it is a penguin so we will be comparing the two

Symbol – Nessie – We will be looking at Nessie and attempting to create our own.

Rhyme – Ye Cannae Shove Year Grannie Off A  Bus

For those who do not know the song you can listen to it below.

As well as exploring things associated with Scotland we will be focusing on the number 2 and the letter sound ‘b’.

Week beginning 10th January

This week the children have been discovering lots of different things about Scotland.

We have been learning about Highland Cows and some children drew their own coos. Did you know that all adult Highland Cows have horns!

We painted representational pictures of Thistles. Did you know that they are a spikey flower? So you have to take care if you see one growing.

We have even made our very own traditional oatcakes (well almost we used dairy free butter instead of animal fat).

The children also took time to explore the sensory bags developing their fine motor skills.

As it is colder the children created bird feeders using bird seed and coconut oil. It was very sticky!

As you can see we have had a very busy week as always.

Welcome Back

Happy New Year and a warm welcome back to you all.

This term, we will be focusing on a letter and number each week.

Week beginning 10th January

Letter of the week

‘a’

We have been looking for things that begin with the letter ‘a’. So far we have found friends beginning with “a” and “a’s” on clothing, but we will continue to look for more things beginning with “a”.

Maybe you can find something at home beginning with “a” and upload this to ILD.

Number of the week

‘1’

How many number 1’s can you see on your way to nursery.

Scotland

This month we will be looking at things that are Scottish. These will include animals, food, objects and symbols.

We will also be learning some Scottish songs and rhymes.
