Week beginning Monday 9th December 2019

This week we have the Christmas Concerts on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Children just come in school uniform.

School is closed on Thursday for polling.

Friday is Christmas Jumper Day and we have our Christmas cinema afternoon when the children go to watch their chosen films.

P1

This week our letter sounds are ai and j. Letter ai homework should be completed for Wednesday and letter j homework should be completed by Friday.

P2

This week our sound is ss.  The children will get 6 words with the ll pattern and 2 common words to learn for homework. Please write each word twice in the homework book and complete for Friday. Spelling test will be on Friday.

P1

The P1 children will be introduced to two new common words which can be reinforced at home by completing the common word homework for Thursday. Words for this week are if and of. You may need to help your child writing the number after counting the words together. Please write each word 2 times. The second word wall is now in the white book for practise of the words at home.

P2

P2 common words will be the last 2 words on the spelling list each week. This week our words are said and here.

 

Reading

Reading books will be taken in this week for Christmas and reading homework will continue after the holidays.

 

Maths

 

Both P1 and P2 will do some Christmas related shape and number work this week.

 

Topic

Our focus this week will be the Christmas Concerts and more Christmas art and craft activities.

Week beginning Monday 2nd December 2019

This week we have the discos on Tuesday evening.

Our open afternoon is on Wednesday from 3.00-4.00pm. Come into the class to buy some of our festive enterprise activities we have been busy making – chocolate fudge and snowflake decorations. There will also be some Christmas art/craft activities for you to do with your child.

P1

This week we are revising our next six letter sounds g, o, u, l, f, b. For homework  you can help your child to make small 2, 3 or 4 letter words using all the letters in the envelope at the front of the pink book. You can use the other sounds too. Please write any you make on the homework page. e.g. bug, fog, bag etc. Please complete this homework for Friday.

P2

Reading

P1

We will continue with reading on Mondays and Thursdays. The children will hear the story in school so should still do lots of talking about the pictures and tell you what is happening.

We will complete the set of books which do not have the ORT characters in them on Monday and move on to a new set on Thursday.  Some new words will be added to go with the new set of reading books. See below.

Our reading days are Mondays and Thursdays. The children will get a new book on these days. Please see the grid in the pink home/school book and sign when reading has been done at home.

The children will continue working on shape this week and looking at symmetrical patterns.

P2

This week we will continue working on shape and symmetry.

 

 

Topic

This week we will continue with our focus on Christmas. We will be doing lots of Christmas art and crafts, making fudge and practising for the Christmas Concert in the hall.
