This is our last week of term. School finishes at 3pm on Friday for the October holidays and we return for the new term on Monday 28th October.
We are going to Kincorth library on Wednesday morning.
We will be going to church on Friday for our end of term service. Friday is also treat snack day – children don’t have to bring fruit or vegetables.
P1
This week our letter sounds are h and r. Letter h homework should be completed for Wednesday and letter r homework should be completed by Friday.
P2
This week our sound is ng. The children will get 6 words with the ng pattern and 2 common words to learn for homework. Please write each word twice in the homework book and complete for Thursday. Spelling test will be on Friday.
P1
The P1 children will be introduced to two new common words which can be reinforced at home by completing the common word homework for Thursday. Words for this week are me and and. You may need to help your child writing the number after counting the words together.
The children have a word wall in their book with our first 12 common words. You can use this at home to practise the words and see if your child can recognise and remember them.
P2
P2 common words will be the last 2 words on the spelling list each week. This week our words are be and was.
Reading
P1
We will continue with reading on Monday this week and I will take the books in on Thursday for the holidays. The children will hear the extended story in school so should still do lots of talking about the pictures and tell you what is happening.
The children will still have the main character names in their word pot. Kipper, Biff, Chip, Mum, Dad and Floppy. Some new words will now start to be added to go with the reading books. See below.

Please bring the pink home/school book, reading book and word pot to school every day in the book bag.

Our reading days are Mondays and Thursdays. The children will get a new book on these days. Please see the grid in the pink home/school book and sign when reading has been done at home. Monday will be our last reading day this week and I will take in the books for the holidays on Thursday.
Maths
P1
We are still doing lots of counting activities, ordering and sequencing numbers and practising our number formation. We are going to continue with activities in our work books – drawing, colouring, counting and writing numbers.
P2
The P2s will continue working on multiplication this week. We will continue with Beat That on Fridays and our CLIC sessions – see below.
C – counting within 100

I – jigsaw numbers (find the missing piece to 10)
C – addition (adding on from the larger number)
Topic
We have been looking at our baby photos, trying to guess who they are and comparing them to how we look now. Now we are going to start looking at toys from the past and comparing them to today’s toys. We are going to use books and the internet to help us.
