We’ve all been learning about Christmas celebrations around the world to get ready for our part in the Christmas around the World concert.

We chose to learn a little bit about the state of Hawaii and learned songs about spending Christmas there.  We worked hard on flower garlands, grass skirts and Hawaiian costumes and we enjoyed the chance to wear our summer clothes in December!

Here are a few photos from our rehearsals and the show itself!

We’ve been recapping coordinates and compass points while playing a style of Battleships.  We’ve been remembering to “go along the corridor” before “going up the stairs”!

We’ve been learning about our reaction times using rulers.  We measured our reaction times when catching a ruler and then we tried doing it with a blindfold.  We checked and compared our times for both!

Christmas Concert Information

Christmas Show

We are looking for help with costumes for the Christmas Show.  It would be good if you had a brightly coloured t-shirt and sunglasses.  We will be making garlands and grass skirts (kilts) next week but bring your own if you have one already!

If you have any inflatable Hawaiian themed toys like palm trees we would be grateful if we could borrow them!

Please bring your costumes in a named plastic bag with all items labelled on Wednesday 2nd December.

Thank you in anticipation.

Paul Klee’s Senecio

We’ve been learning about Paul Klee and his art in our Human Body topic.  We’ve been learning about hot and cold colours and we have used them to make our own version of Paul Klee’s Senecio.  We had a choice of whether to create our images using paint and pointillism or whether we wanted to use tissue and crepe paper to create textures.

Here we are hard at work – our finished photos will be uploaded soon!Picture 008 Picture 006 Picture 007

Christmas Concert Rehearsals

All of our Primary 4s have been rehearsing for our Christmas show about and we have been learning a little bit about places around the world.  We are singing about Hawaii.  We’ve looked at Hawaii on a map, talked about Hawaii as a state of the USA and talked about where it is in relation to Aberdeen.  Here’s a photo from our singing rehearsal!

Skene Square Singers!

Song Club performed for the first time this term at our assembly.  We sang “Hold Back The River” by James Bay and “Hold My Hand” by Jess Glynne.  We really enjoyed showing off our songs and the audience were fantastic too!   Here are a few pictures.

Primary 4 have been learning some songs from Hawaii to perform at our Children of the World Christmas concert.  Here are the links to the music we have been using in class, so that you can practice at home!
