We’ve been learning about R n B music as part of our music topic this term.  We’ve been learning about different lengths of notes, reading sheet music and playing tuned percussion.  We enjoyed playing as a band with singers, untuned and tuned percussion, keyboards and a backing track!

We enjoyed our trip to Satrsophere yesterday where we learned lots about space.  We got to use robotic arms similar to what could be used on a space station and even launched a rocket!  We also enjoyed learning about absorption and which materials would be best for absorbing liquids.

We were learning about light and shade in our drawings.  We’ve talked about light sources and shadows and have used that knowledge to create planets that show light and shade.  We chose different colours of chalk and used white chalk and charcoal to add highlights.  Here are some pictures of our art lesson and our final display.

We took advantage of the sunny weather to get outside and write our spelling words in chalk.  We had a great time covering the playground!

We went to the playground to measure the planets within our solar system to scale!  We found that the inner planets (or rocky planets) are much closer together than the outer planets (or gas giants)!

We’ve had a fantastic week learning about astronauts and the skills needed to become one.  We learned from BBC Tim Peake video about three areas that astronauts are tested against.  We created our own challenges to test knowledge, health and attitudes in class and invited adults to interview for our class.

We decided about the information that we wanted to share and drew posters to convey the information.  We shared the posters in the Staff Room to try to get adults to attend.  We were very thankful that 7 adults could give up their time to interview for the vacancy!

We’ve been learning a lot for Tartan Week during the week.  We’ve been learning about Scots language and have made our own versions of comic strips about The Broons, danced with P3/4 and learned about Scottish artist Jane Birrell.  We learned about Robert Burns through our reading comprehension and have been learning Scottish poems too!

We also enjoyed tasting Scottish foods including haggis (vegetarian!), neeps and tatties!

We enjoyed celebrating together at our party on Monday.  We had a great time dancing in the gym and having party food upstairs.  We played Pass the Parcel, Musical Statues and Corners before dancing the Hokey Cokey together!  It really got us in the festive spirit!
