Our P1 and P1/2 classes visited the Fraserburgh Lighthouse Museum today as part of their project work. A great time was had by all.
We would like to thank all the parents and volunteers that went along to help with the trip.

Finlay in Primary 4 received a very exciting letter recently. The letter was from David Cameron, Prime Minister. Finlay received the letter as part of the work his primary 3 class completed on the Every Child Needs a Teacher Campaign.
Finlay hopes that one day he will be able to visit 10 Downing Street to discuss the matter in more depth!
Mr Miller returned today to begin his vocal tutoring with our classes today. Nursery AM got the chance to pair up with the primary 5 class.
Choir also began today, with over 40 children turning up. Mr Miller has already told the choir about all the events he has signed them up to sing at, including the Youth Festival and a performance at St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh.
Mr Miller returns tomorrow to host a ‘singing and story’ assembly and take the afternoon nursery children for a singing session.
As always, we are delighted to welcome Mr Miller back at Quarryhill and are looking forward to all the exciting things the children will get to experience in his sessions.

This is the concept plan and adjustments will no doubt be made before the plan is finalised. The plan is also available to be viewed on our Grounds for Learning board in the foyer. If you would like a copy sent home with your child, please let us know.

Mr Miller will return on Thursday 12th September to start working with our new classes again. We are very excited to see him on Thursday. Choir will restart on Thursday lunchtime and is open to p4 – p7 pupils.
Our choir are already booked to go and sing at St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh next year.
We hope to see lots of boys and girls at choir on Thursday.
Basketball club starts again on Wednesday 11th September. The club runs from 3pm – 3.45pm and is open to p4 – p7 pupils.

Our Primary 1 and 1/2 classes have started back with a bang, with the parents being invited to a ‘Phonics Fun’ open morning.
Parents had the chance to look around the classes and find out a bit about the literacy programme at the school.
The parents then had the chance to join their child for school dinners.
A great morning was had by all!

We are delighted to find out we have been successful in our grant application to Sportsscotland Legacy Funding and will receive an additional £22,413 towards our playground work.
This alongside the kind donations from
Friends of Quarryhill £2000, Aberdeen branch of the Chelsea Supporters Group £1000,
£ 15,000 initial funding from the Scottish Governement and a £5000 donation from Rotech gives us a very healthly total of £44,413.
We hope to be in the position to share the concept plan with you soon.

We are very excited to be one of 3 schools in Aberdeen taking part in the Grounds for Learning initative to promote natural play in our playground. We are looking to create a more natural landscape in the playground that will provide a range of play opportunities for all our children, from nursery to primary 7.
Our project will help the children at Quarryhill reconnect with open, free, creative and imaginative play – allowing children to play like children! Lots more exciting details will be coming soon……
