Visit to the Mosque

This morning we visited the Masjid Alhikmah (new mosque) on Nelson Street, Aberdeen.

As soon as we entered, we all agreed that is was a very calm and relaxed place and we liked wearing no shoes. Most of us had never been in a mosque before.

First of all, we were told very interesting information about Islam and what happens in the mosque. Then we were able to explore and ask our own questions. We heard a call to prayer which was amazing. We all then went upstairs to see where the ladies worship, then we split into boys and girls to see Wudu, the washing before prayer.

We enjoyed a small snack before heading back to school.

It was a great visit and we would like to thank Fergus’ mum and Zahra’s mum for coming with us. We would also like to thank the team at the mosque for their time, the snacks and making us feel very welcome.
