We have been learning lots about Robert Burns. We found out about why he is so famous and enjoyed listening to some of his most famous poems like My love is like a red, red rose, To a mouse and Tam O’Shanter.
We wrote our own versions of Tam O’Shanter and shared them with Primary 1 purple.
In Art we explored different printing techniques to create our own tartans.
To make our own tartan Tam O’Shanter bonnets we printed with paint and the edge of a piece of card and then drew self portraits so that we could ‘wear’ them.
We also did some block printing with polystyrene tiles and ink. We drew our line pattern on to the tile, covered it in ink using rollers and printed on to our paper. We really enjoyed this and they look great! What do you think?
We are rounding off our Scottish celebrations on Monday 25th January when we will join together with Primary 2 to have our very own Burns Supper. We are going to ‘pipe in the haggis’, have a taste of vegetarian haggis, neeps and tatties, recite some Scottish poems, sing Scottish songs and dance the Military 2 step and the Dashing White Sergeant. Photos to follow.
