Christmas Cards

As part of our eco commitment this year, we are encouraging children to give one Christmas card to the whole class rather than individual cards. We hope that as many people as possible will be able to support this initiative.

Children in Need Day

A huge thank you for supporting this fundraising effort. A total of £408 was raised which has been forwared to the charity. Special thanks to the senior pupils who arranged activities for the other classes in the school. Also, a big thank you to those who arranged for Pudsey to come along and visit on the day.

Primary 6 Book Sale

A huge thank you to everyone who suported the book sale,  The children in Primary 6 worked extremely hard to organise this event and their efforts were rewarded by raising a total of £210.50 on the day of the sale. We will let you know later how the money has been spent.

Harlaw Academy Junior Concert Band

Scottish Concert Band Festival

10 children from Ferryhill School performed with the Harlaw Academy Junior Concert Band on Sunday 30th November at the Scottish Concert Band Festival – Aberdeen Regional Event, held at Cults Academy.  They performed wonderfully at the festival and were awarded the Silver Plus Award by the adjudicators which is fantastic, particularly as this was the first time that this band has performed together!

The children in the band from Ferryhill School are:

Primary 6 – Charlie, Daisy, Jamie K, Etienne, Abigayle, Lauren

Primary 7 – Travis, Catriona, Alice, Kristen

The children have a weekly practice with the band at Harlaw Academy and many of them only joined this school year.  A very big thank you to the school Music teachers, and Harlaw Academy band leader Miss Black, who continually support and encourage the children to enjoy playing their instruments!

As previously advised, P6A are holding a book sale on the morning of Friday 28th of November. This will take place in room 18. Each class of children will be timetabled throughout the morning to visit the sale. Children should bring money with them to school on Friday if they wish to buy any of the books. Prices will range from 20 pence to £1.

BRITISH SCHOOLS’ MODERN BIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS 2014-2015

BRITISH SCHOOLS’ MODERN BIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS 2014-2015

Pentathlon GB is delighted to announce that the details for the BRITISH SCHOOLS’ MODERN BIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS 2014-15 series of competitions are on the website and entries open at 11 am on 1st September. The format is exactly the same as last season.  The series will culminate on 28th & 29th March 2015 at Olympic Park (the run has now been confirmed and will be on the South Lawn) and the swim at the London Aquatics Centre!

*************

Once again, all athletes will have the opportunity to qualify for both the British Modern Biathlon Championships and the British Schools’ Modern Biathlon Championships by entering just one preliminary competition being organised by the Pentathlon GB Regions, Clubs and Schools.

Dates for the preliminary competitions are on the website (see link below) and there are a few others to be added once confirmed.  You can enter more than one competition if you wish to get more competition experience or improve your times.  Entries open online on 1st September.  Some of the closing dates are quite soon after you return to school after the summer break (the earliest is 11th September and the latest is 30th September) and some of the more popular competitions reached maximum capacity within a couple of days.

The British Modern Biathlon Championships will be held on 29th & 30th November 2014 at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre in Solihull.  Competing here is a great opportunity for school age athletes to gain valuable competition experience and an opportunity to improve run and swim times for the British Schools’ Modern Biathlon Championships rankings list.
